I have an alternative use for them and they work great. I have small children at home and we get a lot of boxes/parcels. My son loves building forts, cardboard houses, etc (boyish stuff). I found that with them and a tool to poke a hole (awl) I could shred all different types of cardboard. It holds cardboard together very well, and we've already created some pretty impressive structures. Just don't be careless - stepping on it is worse than Lego.
