Review on πŸ’Ύ Lexar Professional 633x 32GB SDHC UHS-I/U3 Memory Card (Up to 95MB/s Read) with Image Rescue 5 Software - LSD32GCBNL633 by Chris Lentz

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Decent card, but watch out for the write speed!

Lexar Professional 633x cards are an upgrade from 600x SD cards. Previous cards were advertised as reading 90MB/s and writing 45MB/s. According to Lexar, the new cards are now advertised with 95 MB/s reading and 45 MB/s writing. The new cards are now UHS Speed Class 3 (U3). U3 isn't a specific type of card, it's a speed rating that ensures the card can support at least 30MB/s write speed, making it suitable for 4K video recording. The old maps were introduced in 2012, a year before the U3 speed rating was created. I tested the 32GB and 64GB versions of the new 633x cards. Using the CrystalDiskMark v3.0.3 benchmark, I found read and write speeds almost the same as older 600x cards. I've tested with several different USB 3.0 readers, below are the top read/write speeds: Lexar Professional 633 x 32GB 96.1 read/48.9 write Lexar Professional 600 x 32GB 96.5 read/48.7 Write Lexar Professional 633 x 64 96.0 GB Read/69.3 Write Lexar Professional 600 x 64 GB 96.6 Read/ 68.6 Write Note that 64 GB cards have faster write speeds than 32 GB cards. Write speeds are slower than faster UHS-I cards like the SanDisk Extreme Pro, which can reach write speeds in excess of 90MB/s. I tested the cards in the Canon T6i and found that the 600x and 633x 64GB cards performed the same. The 32GB cards were slower and the old 600x card was even slower than the new 32GB 633x card. I have noticed that some SD cards are slower than usual in this camera. I will update this review as I test other camera models. This is a decent card for the price. If you need speed, 64GB has a faster write speed than 32GB. If you have a newer UHS-I DSLR (Nikon D5500, D7100, D7200, D750, Canon 7D II), you should consider another card with a higher write speed.
