This filter is perfect for a 2002 Ford Escape. After removing the passenger side windshield trim, before installing the filter I had to remove pine needles and leaves and clean the area a bit. The filter itself has an indicator showing which way the air should flow and fits perfectly into place. The total time to change the filter was about ten minutes just because I had never done it before. I'm sure next time it will take much less time. Installation requires a Phillips screwdriver and a small flathead screwdriver to remove the screw covers just below the windshield. Something I did for this filter, and also for my engine air filter, is take a marker and write the date the filter was changed on the side of the new filter so it's easy to see when the filter was last changed.
