I've been bird watching for 25 years and I'm always improving when I can afford it. I now have a pair of Kahls 8X42 binoculars, which are great binoculars and cost over $900. I took a chance with the Bushnell kit and knew I had a pair a long time ago when they worked well on the hunt. I received them today and after the bad reviews I had to try them as I bought them as a gift. Well, let me tell you that I took her through all the adjustments and checked the diopter focus setting on the right eye, which is firm, which some have complained about a light hit not knocking it out as claimed. They offer excellent light transmission on a cloudy day, they are sharp and very clear. I bought these for my son and daughter in law to use for hunting and bird watching. They have a close focus of 8.2 feet, sharpness and clarity. I bought these for the Christmas sale of the day and would recommend these binoculars to my friends even at the current sale price. Everyone says they were available 10 years ago when I bought my Kahls I would have picked the Trophy XLT 10X42.
