Before attempting this, the check engine light came on due to a misfire in cylinder #6 on my 2005 Toyota Tacoma (260,000 miles). I confirmed the head gasket problem by doing a cylinder leak test which showed a slight loss of pressure and removing the radiator cap showed bubbles in the fluid. I was evaluating a head gasket replacement and decided to buy a salvage engine with less than 100,000 miles on it. Someone suggested I try it, which I did. Bought and installed on 01.05. I followed the installation instructions. It's the 4th of July and knock wood I haven't had a misfire or check engine light. I'm not sure how many miles I've ridden, probably a few thousand. I've found that the outer reservoir fills up as I ride all day and doesn't fall off. When the engine cools down, I empty the reservoir and put it back in the radiator. I didn't have to refill any liquid. Someone suggested replacing the radiator cap (the old one was original), so I gave it a try. Fluid will not be sucked back into the engine. I'll try a new thermostat and see if that makes a difference. Despite the label's claims, I don't see this as a permanent solution, but I'll ride it while I can. I would try again. .
