Review on Tamron A16NII 17 50Mm Aspherical International by Micha Skolimowski ᠌

Revainrating 2 out of 5

The purchase did not bring joy, the product is bad.

An excellent optic for capturing its qualities. The only thing I'd change is to have faster autofocus like a sigma equivalent. But the saddest part is that marriage rates are so high. The first one I bought was not tested for depth of field or front to back focus. that I deeply regret having done. I gave it to the service, and they confirmed that it has excellent back focus. I tried to return it for a different one, but it wasn't accepted. Only one of the four copies I examined in the shop was sharply focused at 50 millimeters. entire other focal length - 50mm is woefully insufficient. Moreover, excellent retrofocus at 17mm. Submitted a written refund request. One of my friends bought it in Prague and his copy is perfect, even though he didn't bother to examine it and simply accepted the first one offered to him. Some say that in 2022, lenses will be more expensive than they are now because of changes in customs policy that aim to lower lens prices by skipping the quality check process. You can probably guess what happened afterwards. When it comes to making purchases, Europeans have no concept of what "front-back testing" entails. Autofocus is poor, so that's a minus.

Pros
  • Aperture, Construction, Good Staffer, Acceptable Bokeh, Hood Provided, Focus and Zoom Rings that are Easily Adjusted
Cons
  • Cons: - Autofocus is slow (but faster than in most lenses) - The stabilizer makes a lot of noise Bad production quality control (discussed in the comments)
