Review on πŸ”‘ GM D1403G Ignition Lock Housing - Authentic GM Genuine Parts for Optimal Performance by Dan Sturm

Used the sensor to fix my starting problem.

I just used the sensor from the cylinder. Remove the sensor, lubricate the wires with dielectric grease to protect them from moisture. Install in the steering column. Just need a new sensor. Next, you need to retrain your truck's security system. I have a 2004 Chevy Colorado. Repeat until the truck starts. 1. Try to start, leave the ignition on until the "lock" icon disappears or stops flashing (about 15 minutes?).2. Turn off the ignition and repeat step 1. Please note that this process takes about 40-45 minutes. If you have access to any of the Chevy/Factory diagnostic tools, you can force it to relearn the sensor using that tool. After the third time my truck started and I had no problems with the ignition off. There is a video with this fix. You don't have to cut the cables in the car to disable the security system. Cutting wires can also cause other problems.
