Review on πŸ”§ Dremel 9100 21 Forti-Flex Stationary Precision Tool by Jason Lockwood

I "loved " this thing

I had an older, larger and more powerful Dremel flex shaft assembly. By far the hardest working flex shaft block I have had, better than the Foredom. Yes, he was smaller than Foredom. But more reliable. April 2016 (change). Okay, it's been a while now and I still like the device. But I am a power swindler and despotic. So the following items are a bit sketchy. Foot Pedal: A cheap plastic that is difficult to manipulate as it doesn't stick to the floor. Unlike the original large flex shaft version from back then that I still use today. It has a die cast body and is amazing. And this variable speed foot pedal is incredibly responsive. The newer model is not very good. Flex Shaft: I had a catastrophic failure that has already led to several other problems. When working with one of my large tungsten drill bits, the bit got stuck in a crack. This will keep the bit stuck inside and prevent it from moving. This in turn caused the driveshaft's internal propeller to disengage from the joint inside the handle. Pretty nasty scenario, but unfortunately that also happened on a weekend in the middle of an order. I think metal is connected to another metal at all times by a crimp or some other shape e.g. B. a square with a round. Together, this creates many opportunities for equipment failure. For example, a round steel spring flexible shaft with a grounded square end on the motor and another softer steel drive component crimped into an aluminum sleeve. Mistake. Also, the flexible manhole cover comes with a few extra safety features that are a bit redundant. First, plastic on plastic for connections is never a good idea when working with equipment. Threads tend to get exposed fairly easily, requiring spontaneous solutions. For example, Teflon tape around threads. There's more, but this should be enough to get Dremel back to the drawing board. Many Thanks.

Pros
  • HANDLELESS SPEED: Delivers maximum power with a variable speed range from 0 to 23,000 rpm controlled by a foot pedal, allowing for hands-free operation. Ideal for carving, cutting, engraving, smoothing, polishing and sanding.
Cons
  • Short manual
