Review on D-Link DFE-530TX+: High-Performance 10/100 Fast Ethernet Desktop Adapter by James Duffield

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Seems to be working fine.

I ordered this when I was still solving my problem with the cable modem disconnecting during a boot, thinking it was my built in network card that was starting to go bad. Turns out it wasn't NICs or routers, it was the original cable splitter I got from my cable company that had failed and was causing all the dropouts. I still use it in addition to my built in network adapter and it seems to have worked great so far and I haven't had any issues with it. Install drivers quickly and very easily, works well too. The only odd thing about this NIC that I've never seen is that this card didn't light up the link light on my cable modem when connected directly to it, not even the link light on the back of the NIC turned green. . In return, it never gets an IP address and cannot connect to the internet. As soon as I plug it into my router I can see the connection indicator on both the router and the NIC and it immediately gets an IP address from the router and I was ready to go. I don't really care now, but there are still some people who just plug straight into their cable modem and that can cause problems unless it's some kind of glitch with mine. For this reason I gave 4 stars. It doesn't matter to me or most people with a router, but it can cause some issues similar to what I've had when troubleshooting connection issues and trying to rule out issues with my router and not being able to connect directly to my modem use of this card.

Pros
  • Pretty impressive
Cons
  • boring packaging
