So I first bought a cheap blue Chinese PCI-E extender for $8 which seemed to work but was causing lag. Thought I'd try that to get rid of the lag. I just ordered 25cm, the build quality was much better than the blue wire but the machine refused to show anything on the screen when booting up. I thought it was a fluke so I sent the 25cm cable back and bought a 20cm 90 degree cable. There was exactly the same problem. I'm pretty sure it's the cables as the cheap blue cable still works, as does plugging the card directly into the slot. My hardware setup: Dell Graphics Amplifier, Nvidia GTX 1080.
