Poorly finished I doubt it's sterling silver
They are poorly finished. Grab the screw mechanism. Worst of all, I seriously doubt that sterling silver earrings are too fragile and lack sterling's characteristic strength. I tried patinating the earrings with liver of brimstone - while everything else (sterling finds from my usual supplier) patinated, the back of the earrings did not. I would recommend staying away from them. If I had kept the packaging I would have sent it back.
