This H201 has been running in my main bathroom for a year and only runs on a second pair of type D alkaline batteries. This radio milked the first set of batteries in 7 months. I only changed the batteries because at 80% full volume there was some distortion in the sound, which disappeared with the new batteries. That's a phenomenal achievement. The radio is so sensitive to the FM and VHF (weather) bands that the wire antenna used for those bands remains folded up in the rear storage compartment. It picks up the same stations with the antenna up or down, so I leave it up. Its internal ferrite AM antenna works very well, attracting local (50 miles) stations during the day and remote stations at night. Its selectivity is enough to make listening to late-night DX stations worthwhile. The speaker works quite well, putting out more sound power than you would expect from a speaker that's probably just under 3 inches in diameter. My wife puts hers (yes I bought her similar H-202) on the patio table when you're gardening in the garden and it fills the garden with music. My music can be heard well in the three back rooms of the house from its perch on the master bathroom vanity. It's a heavy radio that's better suited to standing on a shelf than carrying it around. It has a very strong (heavy) plastic case (ABS?) sealed with elastomeric gaskets all over and two heavy D batteries in a waterproof compartment. I won I don't drop mine on purpose but although it's heavy I think it will survive the fall. Note that while the H-201 is a curmudgeon, my wife's H-202 drains a couple of D batteries in about 2 weeks. I suspect the bluetooth transmitter they are using is to blame. e The H-202 must be powered by an AC adapter (sold separately) that is so loud that AM listening becomes torturous. This does not affect FM, WX and Bluetooth listening from your smartphone, so these modes are used. Sangean excuses the poor performance of the power supply by saying that the Greens forced them to use a switching power supply, and that may be true. If you have the skills, finding an old 3V linear wall wart and splicing it to the right connector should solve this problem. Haven't tried it yet as my wife doesn't want me to play Tool Man Taylor "More Power" live on her radio!
