Inadequate adjustment for a bike with rear axle adjusters

Unfortunately, the sidewall of the tire rubs even though my rear axle is the right size. See the first photo. Since my Electra is in gear I don't have a quick release, so in the turbo trainer the whole wheel shifts to the left (seen from behind) and the tire rubs. Aggressive. Yes, it is fully inflated to 60lbs. The drag wheel assembly is welded to the frame of the machine, so I can't solve my problem by repositioning it. I can't adjust the "cup" enough on the non-lever side to solve the friction problem AND be able to control the lever to lock the bike. So. He's coming back. Which is a shame as it is very durable. And aside from sanding down my sidewall, it's very quiet. I have it on my carpets. If you have quick releases on the rear axle this would be ideal.
