I installed this on a 2013 Tundra. I ended up leaving it to the left of the driver's seat so I didn't have to run wires. It was easy to find an existing plug as I have a tow kit and plug it in. I just stuck the wires into the footboard. Also note the grounding bolt which is easily accessible. Just lift the kick plate up a bit and the screw is right there. Drilling is not required. I don't know what they used in the installation video but I found the steel strong and it was very difficult to drill and work in that area. However. Good controls.
