I needed to replace my Aroma kettle which had served me well for over 10 years. But reviewers of the latest version reported that the new model is not as good as the old version. So I was looking for a kettle that would meet my needs (stainless steel, no BPA or toxic plastic). I stopped there, but I feel like I've settled for less. The temperature gauge gimmick serves no real purpose here in America (I doubt the Brits want that feature either). There are a million warnings not to let water on the electric parts of the kettle, but every time you lift the lid, the condensation that has collected on the lid drips onto the kettle and countertop. The design seems awkward to me. I think it would be better if the handle could be folded down to make adding water easier. I've only had it for a few weeks and it's working well so far, but I don't expect this one to last very long.
