Not what I expected

The package came in a box with large holes, tons of tape, crumpled corners, a cut out area where the old tag was and a small section of the twisted styrofoam protection broken off . In other words, this box looked like it had been used for soccer practice before someone returned it and then resent it to me. Although I plugged it in and only turned it on once to see if the motor was running (it did), the dehydrator itself didn't appear to be affected by physical damage to the box and foam. Not only was the "mesh liner” pictured on page 2 of the owner's manual missing from the table of contents, each page of the manual had smudges around the edges (maybe vegetable oil?), further increasing my suspicion that this unit was someone that's being returned. different. I've recently made the decision to eat more organic fruits, leafy greens, and vegetables. One of the reasons I bought this dehydrator was so I could make "fruit buns" and kale chips. However, raw foodists agree that heating food above 118 degrees destroys the vitamins and phytonutrients in fruits and vegetables. The fruit drying chart manual recommends a temperature range of 131-140 degrees for all the fruits listed, effectively eliminating the nutritional value of what I'm trying to achieve. The drying table for the 12 vegetables listed suggests a temperature of 113 degrees for 8 vegetables to 122 degrees for 4 of them. I am NOT satisfied with this product or the company that supplied it.
