If I ever have to expand the hobby room, I'll wait for a bigger Avalon. At this time. this smaller one is great. The only downside is that you have to use it so often that it fills up quickly. Whenever I use crayons (which I often do), I run any "used" pencils from the container through this sharpener before cleaning so they're all ready for next time. Although according to the instructions not suitable for colored pencils, I had no problems. I've noticed that my pencils are getting shorter and faster, and a few times I've broken the tips when removing them from the sharpener, which I attribute to trying to make some pencils too thin. I have the manual version but this is a godsend for my arthritis. Works simply and well.
