Purchased to fit a 2012 Ram 1500 Lone Star fit. Good: - Aesthetically pleasing (OEM style) Bad: - Not a true 12v camera - Poor support - Drilling optional if you want functionality All parts and specs (including the one in the box) say it's 12v What What remains untold and undocumented (and was only discovered after numerous support emails) is that there is actually a hidden downconverter in the cable assembly part. The camera itself only has 5V. To avoid drilling and get a nice thin connector cable, I cut out the assembly on the camera; tinted the wires to test 4 separate cables (Vid+, Vid-, DC+, DC-) and ran a cable to the wire for a very nice look with minimal impact. Unfortunately once tinted, started and connected; no video. Attached a test camera to test all connections and the test camera works without any problems. Contact support and in the 8th email they finally report that they have a built in buck converter as the camera itself is a pure 5vdc camera even though all the inputs show 12v. Save yourself the hassle (and potential single point of failure) and get a true 12V DC product.
