So, a little background. I worked as an audio engineer for over 5 years before going back to school and switching to electrical engineering. That being said, I feel like I can say I have a good understanding of the physics of sound in general. The JBL LSR308 kit has been my daily driver since I used it for music mixing/recording. Since then I've moved away from studio recording and wanted an unobtrusive/clean setup for my office. I was really hesitant to downgrade as they are very similar in terms of audio fidelity compared to JBL. However, I'm very happy with the way they sound. Out of the box my heart sank because the factory response was terrible and I thought I'd have to return it, but I started playing around with the EQ. I installed my own EQ profile for these speakers in my room. I tried my best to copy the sound of my LSR308, it's not perfect but pretty darn good in my opinion. If you decide to use this profile, keep in mind that every room is physically different and therefore not all speakers will sound the same when using the same EQ. I believe this is a good starting point and you can customize it to your liking. Finally, a personal suggestion: DO NOT use the Surround Sound option. This is absolute rubbish. Overall this is a very good speaker set for the money and they are RGB so what's not to like?
