We have a neighbor with a Rottweiler that will start growling and barking as soon as you enter our backyard. I hung this over our fence and made sure it works when the dog barks (the red light comes on when it works). Even the dog didn't care. I took it off the fence and pointed it at a barking dog 6 or 7 feet away from me. This dog didn't care at all. Maybe it's more for the occasional barking dog that your neighbor doesn't let in.
