Meh, all right, but I abused it.

These are good value considering how much you get per pack but they are mediocre at best. I wanted them to (I know this may seem odd) keep soup broth fresh in a narrow-necked bottle to use during cooking. I like to use broth when cooking everything from eggs to meat and pretty much anything I sauté or pan fry to add moisture instead of salt and flavor. Chicken/vegetable/beef broth comes in larger containers than I can fully use before it runs out/spoils in the fridge, so I bottle it, remove as much oxygen as possible, then cap the bottle for use in the fridge. next recipe or dish. I was hoping this would be the solution I needed and although I only needed one or two at this price for this quantity I figured if one breaks (they don't have the most reliable construction), gets lost or even too dirty, too clean enough, I might just toss it in the trash and open a new one. I thought it was working fine until I purposely left about half a box of broth in the bottle with one of those stoppers for about a month to see if it stayed fresh. This did not happen and when I "opened" the bottle about 4 weeks later there was no vacuum and the broth had gone bad. Obviously they are for wine bottles with many other uses but I have not used them for wine. If you have a good or expensive bottle of wine I would recommend a much better quality wine stopper that removes oxygen from the bottle before or while sealing it to keep your wine bottle fresh. I'm not a wine lover, but my wife has a wine cork with a separate pump that removes oxygen and creates a seal. It works well and if I decide to seal the 'brew bottles' I might consider getting one myself. It would probably be unfair of me to review this product as I use it off-label and may even expect it to keep a bottle sealed longer than intended. Removing enough air and keeping the contents of the bottle fresh works great for a week or two, but I wouldn't recommend getting high hopes for freshness beyond that. I'm guessing a bottle of wine doesn't last two weeks or more in most homes. The broth probably shouldn't either.
