Cork enters bottle normally but leaks after sucking if left on its side. Shaking the bottle to relieve pressure doesn't work either. Very difficult to remove.

At first I only pumped each seal a few (5 or 6) but the amount of air drawn in by each pump is so small I figured I would have to pump it more for a good degassing of my wine. When I discovered this and quickly squeezed each seal 50-100 times, the seals became very tight and worked great. They are perfect for my needs.

Now we can cap bottles again and only drink glasses here and there. We can also open several bottles without fear of them going bad. You simply plug in the plug and pump out the air. I didn't send it back because it's so cheap. I should have known it was too good to be true. I've used Vacu Vin and it works great. 3 times more expensive. These are good value considering how much you get per pack but they are mediocre at best. I wanted them to (I know this may seem odd) keep soup broth fresh in a narrow-necked bottle to use during cooking. I like to use broth when cooking everything from eggs to meat and pretty much anything I sauté or pan fry to add moisture instead of salt and flavor. Upgrade to 1 star as they break very easily when trying to reopen the bottle on first use. I have previously given them 3 stars (original rating below). They are great for creating an airtight seal. Now I can easily put the wine bottles back in the fridge lying on their sides. Although I would argue with the power of the vacuum. It doesn't suck in enough air to prevent the wine from oxidizing. This is enough to suck the cork into the bottle and prevent leakage.
