If you've searched Amazon for a pottery wheel, you've probably noticed that there are at least a dozen accounts that sell the exact same wheel, or the same wheel but possibly a different color. And of course the price and reviews are everywhere. My wife and I just completed a 6 week pottery course that cost about twice the price of this circle. I figured if my wife could use it for renovations next year I'd be happy. I figured it was direct drive and I could probably fix any minor mechanical issues that came up. Surprise! It's actually belt driven. But so far so good. The biggest disadvantage is of course the lack of a bat. And there aren't even any screws to attach the racquet. My wife tried it without a mallet and the plasticine would not stick to the table. She managed to make a few doll-sized pots, but that's about it. This prompted us to go to a real pottery shop. With a cymbal the size of racquets you can use is pretty limited but we were able to buy a few different 10 inch racquets. We also bought 2 sets of screws. The screws themselves were about 2.5 inches long. I'm sure this length is perfect for a regular size bike (I have no idea if this length is a standard size) but I had to cut it down to fit this bike. Here's the thing: I removed the table so I could use the drill press to make the holes. DON'T DO WHAT I DID. Sure, assembling the wheel wasn't a big deal, but you're dealing with something belt-driven, which complicates things. I had to disassemble and reassemble it before it worked. If I had to do it all over again I would make a cardboard template for the holes that should have been and use a solid drill bit to drill through the table. Trust me it will save you from pain and suffering. And time. Now that everything is working as it should, I can say that this is a normal product. It's not great, but assuming you get a working unit - it's decent enough to play around with - or for kids, maybe students.
