This unit works as advertised and is ready to use. I find using an SD card to be the most convenient way to transfer data from the recorder to a computer, avoiding connecting the recorder directly to the machine and frequently using special access software. A word of caution: the description of the SD card format as compatible with Excel can be misleading. I was able to drag and drop data into an Excel clone for Linux, but I couldn't load the data the way I normally associate with Microsoft-sourced Excel files. The logger output file is simply a text file in Excel screen format. However, the SD file is in a format more suitable for my purposes and, after filtering with the public New Line Transformation Filter, can be easily fed into Gnuplot or R for plotting or analysis. As another reviewer noted, there is no on/off switch. So if batteries are used, they should be removed for long-term storage.
