Installed in the car a few weeks ago, no problems yet. The blue LEDs it contains are a little bright, and shining straight through one of the USB ports is a distraction at night. I routed my cable to this port to hide it, but you might want to dim the LEDs a bit as they are primarily for display purposes. If it wasn't sealed I would just remove them completely. Was taking off the star a few months ago because there isn't really a way to indicate to the phone or any other device that it can generate more power. "Dumb" USB devices will easily draw power until the charger's current limit is reached, but most phones require a handshake to charge beyond their base rate. I can hack it and add a suitable chip and/or take a charger that has the parts needed and tie it to it.
