the map software became unstable over time

This is my second Garmin device. When I first received this device, I found it to be very stable and reliable. After several map and software updates, it became increasingly unreliable. Here are a few examples - it will take you through weird loops and back, ignoring the obviously easier routes. For example, after a recalculation, he added a 25-50 mile loop that deviated from the original route for no reason I could understand. Points along the entire route to avoid recalculating some weird detour. What kind of defeat is the goal, why not just have a device to plan your own route? - The remaining distance is not calculated accurately. So you're 11 miles from your next turn and then it suddenly changes to 18 miles from your next turn and then when you get to the next turn it says you have 7 miles to go and then suddenly changes to indicate that you have 300 feet left. Sometimes when you can get back on the freeway and pull right into the ramp, he wants to cross the bridge to the other side, do a weird U-turn, and then come back, do another. a weird U-turn and you're back at the same exit you were just at. When I first bought it it didn't and I felt like I could count on it. Now I don't trust him and that also causes problems. Also, you won't be able to update this device if it's not connected to a power source, even if it's just a 1 or 2 megabyte download! It's ridiculous, what's the point of Wi-Fi when you need to connect to download? In general, I think Garmin software becomes very unstable and you don't need it when driving in the real world.

Pros
  • like everything before
Cons
  • annoying
