Not so often used as a battery monitor

I bought this as a base power meter for my lithium battery and inverter system in my RV. After plugging it in, I found that it only works one way. Shows the power of the discharge and shows ZERO when charging. If you connect it to the shunt in reverse, it will show charging. So I thought ok just buy two of these they are cheap and one shows loading and the other shows unloading. Actually, that's a stupid decision. Drok makes a power meter that can do this and more. It shows power in both directions, positive and negative power, and calculates battery capacity based on actual current draw and capacity of your battery. When I found this out, I returned the item and got another one. In itself this meter is actually pretty good and shows 4 important parameters at the same time on a good display. It's accurate and it works well. It has several basic functions accessible via a button (which cannot be pressed with a finger and must be used to press with a stylus), including the ability to reset the energy counter. As a multimeter, as described, it is ideal. It's not suitable as a battery indicator, but that's my fault in choosing it as a battery monitor. The main disadvantage is the display. Unfortunately, like most of these small LCD displays, this is a low-quality SuperTwist display with poor viewing angles. So if you look at it from eye level you won't see anything. If it had a "contrast" setting you could fix that, but of course it doesn't. It's set at knee height, so I have to get down on the floor to see it. Obsolete quickly. The Drok battery gauge I replaced it with has the same reading issue. It's okay, I just use it as an opportunity to get on the floor and do yoga or push ups or whatever.

Pros
  • handheld multimeter has a large LCD screen, can display voltage, current, power, energy at the same time, bright and easy to read.
Cons
  • Almost everything is fine
