
With 4 stone grits this is a very useful system for sharpening metals that have no edges at all. With this stone I was able to sharpen an edgeless katana sharp enough to cut through a 2 inch piece of bamboo. 12" Carving Knife FAST and very SAFE. Using smaller sharpening stones can be dangerous if you have to hold the stone with your hand. Place the stone on a stable surface and with one hand grasp the blade and the other the Handle. The base never slipped. Adjust the angle for the blade and start with a back and forth motion to adjust the blade and slowly move along the entire edge of the blade. Swap the blade and repeat the same for the second page. I have sharpened all 10 of my kitchen knives, from cleavers, roast beef, butcher and chef knives; from steel to ceramic. Some of them have never been sharpened and are over 8 years old. Finished them all in about 20 minutes and each is now VERY sharp and much more enjoyable to use.
