As both a chess player and a collector of chess sets, I'm thrilled to add this one to my collection and more than happy to recommend it to others. It's a classical design which I like, but the metallic pieces (rather than the wood or plastic we usually see) creates a nice bit of visual interest and makes this one stand out as just that little bit different from the dozens of other chess sets I have.Everything is made to very high quality, and the pieces have a decent weight to them without feeling excessively heavy. The board is also quite attractive, and I'm particularly pleased by how well the pieces nest into their spaces on the tray on the board's interior for easy and convenient storage.From a player's perspective, the one drawback is that the diameter of the piece bases is a little large for the size of the squares. They certainly fit, but there's not quite as much "extra" space as I prefer when examining a chess position. However, for casual players or collectors, I don't think this will be an issue, and even for obsessive chess players such as myself it's only a very minor inconvenience.All told, this is a lovely chess set and it would make a great purchase for oneself but would also make an excellent gift.
