I took this bad boy out to a local lake and "fished” it from the dock. Within the first ten minutes, I brought in about 7 lures (some even in really good shape) and a BUNCH of fishing line that was still attached to the lures. Strangest finds were hand-forged nails (square heads) and the handle from a fishing reel. Someone had a bad day at some point! Was happy to get all that line out of the water. It was also cool to get a feel for the topography around where I was throwing out the rope and pulling it back in. I was able to get a sense of where the logs and piling are and how deep the water is in certain areas. A word of caution, the gloves that are included are nice, but they will not protect your hands from hooks or anything sharp. As I was cleaning off the bottom of the magnet, I ran my thumb over the tiniest piece of hook (couldn’t even discern it was really anything) and it nailed me. A lot of people were using the dock that day, so I got lots of questions, but most thought it was pretty cool. The grappling hook came in very handy. Overall, I’m quite satisfied and having fun with a new hobby.
