I don't have much experience comparing these binoculars to other marine binoculars, but I can compare them to other hunting binoculars like the Bushnell Trophy 10x42 ($100). I am a moose hunting bot. This is a roof prism, and these bushnells (like most marine ones) are porro prisms. I promise to take them both on a boat this summer and test them side by side for clarity, although comparing $100 and $300 optics isn't entirely fair. $worth for the jar, and while neither is a high-end item, both offer excellent value for money. Interestingly, I find that the Bushnell is better at color recognition when hunting than the Steiners on the water, but that can only be my guess. To really compare side-by-side I would do a Steiner moose hunt and that's not going to happen due to the weight. Maybe I'll try glazing side by side in CO this October this year. I use them when fishing the LI Strait, mainly to see other boats, bunker balls and bank features. After Charter's launch I would probably move to the Navigator or Commander series after testing, but as I've learned from researching hunting binoculars and spotting scopes, each price step results in an increase in quality but slower review. The $300 I paid for these are definitely worth the cheap $100 set I lost overboard and various small binoculars and monoculars I used in 2018, a very good choice to start with Marine. These are all binoculars I need for sound. Since the waves do not act at sea level, the main application is always in the field of view of the coast and up to 500 yards with good clarity. Tilt at 3 feet to get more than a glimpse without risking a headache. In low light (early morning and dusk) they are excellent. The 50mm lens is great for situations like this. I love this lens and although it has only had one season it has withstood the normal knocks of a boat - drops, salt water on the lens and case etc. I expect they will last for years. If you are looking for a good set of marine binoculars I highly recommend them for $. Unless you have a particular need for higher magnification, 7x50 is an excellent choice for use on the water, as is any higher magnification, and you will struggle to aim a target without excellent hand-eye coordination and the risk of and to keep quick pains in the head and in the eyes.
