Review on πŸ”¬ EISCO High-Precision Quantitative Spectroscope: Guaranteeing Accurate Results by Leo Torres

Good for the curious

This is a cheap spectrometer and you get what you pay for. It's not bad if you understand it from the start. If you plan to do detailed spectroscopy, spend your money elsewhere. The slit width is one to two millimeters, so the width of the spectral bands is also one to two millimeters. This corresponds to a relatively wide change in wavelength of around 20–30 nm. The wavelength scale must also be backlit, which makes it difficult to read the source in the dark. As mentioned earlier, these "issues” should be addressed from the start. It's cheap, but it separates the radiation into its component parts while providing an approximate scale for measurements. This results in a person being able to study for hours with this product at an affordable price.

Pros
  • Versatile for measuring spectra of charged gas tubes, flame tests and basic astronomical research.
Cons
  • Expensive
