Snig at the beginning, quickly waning but still working.
It has excellent opacity. At least for a while. After a few weeks, sweat and moisture will cause it to stretch enough that it's no longer as tight. On the other hand, it can be rolled up in such a way that it maintains a reasonably decent level of tautness. Anyway, I often wear it under a balaclava and it definitely helps keep it in place. Fortunately, I have no experience of how to assess the level of protection. But I'm sure he will do his job.
