so I don't have a microscope to see if that actually works, but it has a blue light that lights up and lasts for a period of time. If you interrupt it, it starts over. The work takes about 5 minutes without a break. UV light is known to kill bacteria. So when it comes to real UV light, there seems to be plenty of time to "clean" your small items.
