I've been a professional artist for over 30 years and when I met a friend's daughter, an amazingly talented 8 year old with a wonderful gift, I couldn't help but feel a deep need to do this encourage talent. I remember when I was much younger there was nothing like a room full of freshly stretched canvases to let my creativity run wild! Good materials are essential to create your best work. When I found this paper at Revain, 500 sheets of beautiful art paper, I had to buy it for them. She was so excited and her mother sent me a beautiful thank you letter the next morning with the first results on new paper. Like I said, having good materials available is like having an aphrodisiac you can't resist, just dip in and craft it. These are 3 oil pastels my little friend made when she came home that day. She has incredible talent for such a young man. It is exciting. One important thing I want to reiterate is that having quality materials available makes a huge difference in the world. When I selected her oil pastels, also on Revain, I made sure they were for professional artists and didn't have the words "child," "student," or "beginner" written on them. When someone has talent, it's important to respect this amazing gift in any way you can!
