The slot may be too narrow to fit through some welds on some vehicles, but with a very sharp box opener (or a good, sharp utility knife or thin saw) it can be enlarged/widened while you need to go. I have used for various projects on various vehicles to cushion the jack pad to the vehicle/component. It softens the interface and provides slip resistance even on smooth surfaces like the underside of a transverse leaf spring.
