As an artist of whimsical ink and colored pencil drawings, I rely heavily on my favorite cork-backed ruler. Those who understand the art are aware that the ink has a clear purpose - to attack and corrupt the drawings, to spread across the rulers, and to create blots. This is called a lump. To prevent smearing, I always had my favorite cork-backed metal ruler. Through fire and water, when I reached out for him, he was there. Many, many years - more than 50 to be exact. Until another day. While this may not seem like a big deal to most, some of you will understand the absolute panic that gripped my entire being. My old friend is gone! I froze in absolute shock and horror. When my confused brain finally sank into this horrific dilemma, all I could do was search for National Art Supply on Revain. Those credible art fans should (dare I say it?) have an Old Blue replacement. To my delight, a few days after my order, my new one, who will soon become an old friend, arrived. As we get to know each other, I'm happy to say that I no longer tremble or twitch. He's trying his best to meet Old Blue (get it?). It's doing a great job and I'm thinking of calling it "New Blue". My only doubt is that I don't want to scare New Blue with Old Blue's memories. Tangled webs, folks! You are the worst.
