Review on Revolutionizing Cooking: Tenergy Solis Digital Meat Thermometer – App Controlled & Wireless Convenience by Jennifer Brown

Best BBQ thermometer I have ever owned/used

I grill a lot and can't imagine any serious grilling (other than hamburgers and dogs) without a thermometer. I bought this to replace a broken Maverick Single Probe Wireless Thermometer. Maverick was good, but it didn't work with your smartphone. So you had a base unit that you could put a sensor in and a remote unit. This used your home WiFi to connect. He had several meat settings. It was good for what it was but as soon as the display became very difficult to read I went to the market and bought this Tenergy model. Tenergy is light years better than what I had. Tenergy works with your smartphone (Android or iPhone). It has six temperature sensors, all of which are color-coded. I have a fairly large grill as well as a nice pit barrel oven. I don't need more than two sensors at a time just yet, but I'm glad there are six in this kit. So you get six temperature sensors and a base station that interacts with your phone's software (after downloading the Tenergy app). The smartphone software is fantastic. . This allows you to assign different meats/items to each probe color for your current grill. You can also adjust and save temperature settings. For example, I often cook breast. So you can start cooking and bring it to 160 degrees Fahrenheit. Then you take it out, wrap it up and cook it again at 200 degrees Fahrenheit. Do the same with the pork shoulder. So you can program a brisket setting to 160. Then program another chestpiece setting to 200. It's really nice to have that kind of flexibility and just pop in a temperature probe and then link it to a custom temperature program. Then just relax and wait for the software to notify you by phone. There's even an alarm that goes off if you stray too far from the probe's base station. But if you run away, grab something and need to grab your phone, it's a snap to plug it back in when you get back. I paid about $40 for a single sensor Maverick temperature sensor. Tenergy costs over $52 with six sensors and smartphone software. I love it and can't recommend it enough.
