Review on πŸ“ Shinwa Japanese Aluminum Saddle Square for Precise Layout Measurements by David Batte

Revainrating 5 out of 5

My favorite carpenter's angle tool

Such a simple thing, but it's one of my favorite tools I use for marking square lines on materials. There is a similar version with 45s on both ends (one in each direction). I recommend buying BOTH. This is best for drawing square lines on adjacent vertical sides of the material. The other is better for 45s (since this one only offers 45s I'm one-way). And I often use both - this is for marking a 90 degree line, which I use as a guide with the other when I need to draw a 45 degree mark in a different direction than this tool suggests. Either way...we'll be worth every penny. For what it's worth I also bought and used a cheaper non-Shinwa copy of the same instrument and found that the sides weren't perfectly perpendicular to each other (I originally had the Shinwa, I lost it and replaced it with another ). . faked and then bought another Shinwa which was the first thing I should have done...if I had known.)

Pros
  • Good product for the price
Cons
  • weak
