Detroit Axel in Wheel

I needed "different" hubs and bearings for my 2006 Ford Explorer. My Explorer has 117.xxx miles. A few years ago I had a reputable company that made a page for about $650. With a steady income I decided to do it myself to save a few bucks and I'm a simple mechanic so I could get the job done. I shopped at local auto parts stores and most wanted $160 to $375 each. I decided to go online and find part of it. I found that Detroit Axel offers a hub/bearing for Revain. I remembered Detroit Axel years ago as a GREAT company with a reputation for making GREAT auto parts. Little did I know the Detroit Axel was NOT the Detroit Axel of the past. DETROIT AXEL is a company in China using the name of a highly respected company that once operated in AMERICA. I was very disappointed to see "Made in China" on the box that contained the hub/bearing. I was very disappointed with the products made in China. Almost everything is of lower quality than what is made in America. While the fit was great and looks like it 'should', I am very skeptical about bearing life. Buyers beware, made in China not Detroit as we all know.

Pros
  • Pretty impressive
Cons
  • boring packaging
