My main goal was to find lights that didn't give the room an uncomfortable yellow tinge, but weren't so bright white that it hurts the eyes. I prefer dark settings, but of course at some point in my life I need LOTS of light. I used them once to light a camera which, if you don't know, requires VERY bright lighting. But again, they don't get in the way with a standard ceiling fan. In my 24x12 studio, only one gives off that yellow cast, but four make it nice and white without squinting when I first turn it on. talk about durability but it looks like they will last quite a long time. Most "energy efficient" bulbs will last for years anyway. I've been using the same lightbulbs for many years so I can't say I've noticed a difference in my electricity bill.
