Bought an old W220 S500 that had no check engine light, SRS or ABS faults on the dashboard. I had parking lights and suspension messages in the instrument cluster. Since I had a wonderful BlueDriver scanner that worked wonders as a bi-directional scanner for my GM vehicles, I figured it would be a great match for my Benz. no BlueDriver couldn't connect even though their website confirms it worked. Started following various Benz forums to find the best scanner. What I learned was that the Mercedes Star software was the best solution, but good luck finding it for less than $2,000. I then looked at Autel's higher-end versions, but didn't want to spend more than $800 and pay annual fees. I came across this Foxwell that was on sale at Revain over Christmas. I've found it to be bi-directional and comes preloaded with one brand to choose from, with the option to purchase other brands (BMW, VW/Audi and more). It is best that he does not have an annual fee for his work. Upon receipt I was able to diagnose the 60 modules on my 2006 S500 and was told I had about 30 errors. Impressive! No wonder I got a big discount on this car. Anyway, I was able to access any code on various Mercedes forums and started to solve any problem. The biggest problems with these old Mercedes W220: Airmatic pumps, Airmatic shock absorbers and the terrible PSE door lock system. This scanner told me which soft-closing doors were failing, that my PSE unit in the trunk was faulty, that my trunk release unit had a short circuit, and so on. Best of all, the bi-directional testing allowed me to see every module in my air spring and door locks and run the tests. Unreal! I'm a weekend warrior who loves to suffer. I'm no expert but I love that we can all shoot anything with a scanner like this and YouTube. There's a reason over $85,000 more than 10 year old cars are worth next to nothing in Germany due to the complexity of redesigned boobies. Go out and buy an old Benz, roll it up and take something that was once great and bring it back to life for 5-10% off the suggested retail price. I recommend this scanner for its module specific (bi-directional) learning capabilities at an affordable price. While this scanner is great, you can't damage your car if you don't know what you're doing. Don't expect to have to reprogram keys or set up complicated systems like the Mercedes star scanner. It's something anyone can use and save thousands of traders.
