The LEDs ensure sufficient brightness, the LCD screen automatically adjusts to this brightness. One thing I stumbled upon is that the microscope switches to more or less power depending on which direction you turn the focus wheel. It looks like one is twice as strong as the other. Just keep turning the wheel and it will switch to a different zoom range. I'm not sure how the microscope does it, but the clarity is equally good at any magnification. Two images from the end of the mini USB cable show the difference between the magnifications. Of course you can also zoom in and out. Images aren't as clear, which I think is due to button vibration. The menu was easy to navigate, but there was sometimes a lag after pressing a button, which could be annoying. I complain that the USB cable that came with it didn't work, so I just used the other one I had. After that, I couldn't get the program to take a picture of what I was seeing on my computer monitor. I downloaded this latest version of the software which worked but cost over $30 for a license because it is from a third party.
