From a French Bodum press, the filter is really good, the best I've ever used in a press. I only brew tea (yerba mate) with it and only use one filter. Nice, but there are two disturbing design features. 1) The seal is very tight, which helps filter everything, only liquid goes through the mesh. Because of this, there is always a large air pocket between the gap between the seal and the top of the mesh during immersion. This will prevent the remaining liquid from spilling out. I have to re-dip it a few times on the last fill to push out any trapped air and get the liquid flowing again. 2) The location of the castle is unfavorable. Not sure if it's bad luck, but since the lock doesn't stop when aligned with the handle and spout, it's difficult to pour. Imagine a straight line from the handle to the spout, the lock should end in a position where this can happen. Unfortunately it spins freely in any direction and I have to readjust it every time I cast. Small but annoying.
