Great little device for wirelessly streaming music from your phone to your car speakers

First things first, this device doesn't make CDs sound perfect. You'll get some fuzz here and there. However, this is the easiest and smartest way I've seen to bridge the technology gap for cars made before AUX-inputs were commonplace and for today's modern smartphones, with or without headphone jacks. Anker made very clever use of the latest FM transmitter technology, Bluetooth connectivity and their amazing USB charging product, and combined all three into a single device that plugs directly into a 12V outlet. It couldn't be easier. Connect it. turn it on Connect to your phone's Bluetooth (and they made it so easy). That's maybe two minutes of work. The next part is a bit tricky because you need to find an empty frequency in your car's FM stereo (white noise, no transmitter) and then set up Roav SmartCharge to broadcast on the same frequency but once you find a suitable one have, you must finish again. Just add it as a radio preset and you can recall it whenever you want to use SmartCharge to play music. I also compared it to an older Bluetooth gateway that didn't have FM broadcasting capability or built in USB ports and SmartCharge sounded better and didn't have to crank the stereo up as much as the old BT device. I like that there are two USB ports so you can charge two devices at the same time. I also like that it has a headphone output, so if your car has an AUX input you can run a cable from the SmartCharge to the AUX, meaning the SmartCharge still acts as a Bluetooth receiver but doesn't have to transmit over FM . SmartCharge is just a nifty device that covers a lot of the bases when it comes to car and audio charging, and it amazes me that it's as cheap and beautiful as it is.

Pros
  • Handy part
Cons
  • So far so good
