I did some comparisons with another purchased webcam but wasn't satisfied. I found this and thought it would be a good benchmark, and it was! The autofocus was fast and landed exactly where I wanted it on me (or my test head in the video) for optimal sharpness. I wasn't always happy with the color, it was a bit too warm for my liking, but it would work great on a Mac mini for my kid's schoolwork with zoom. I liked that it handles black well. You can buy a Mac app ($8) if you want, or use the free Windows app to adjust color and contrast, but for the most part it's a good webcam for the lighting conditions and scenarios we envisioned for it to have. I am attaching 3 attachments: 1 short video of the head, 2 screenshots of the video of the same scene, one with the office lights on and one with the lights off. Darkness fades to colorless and silent black. By the way, it has a red privacy indicator "in use". I'm not sure if I missed it in the product description, but it's also very nice. (Don't just put the lens cap on when not in use)
