This is a pretty decent meter for the price. I give one star because of the backlight. It's not backlit. They installed two LEDs on the top of the scale on the bottom of the scale to illuminate the surface of the scale. "Backlight means backlit." (This is a dictionary quote). To illuminate the counter, you need to install a lamp under the scale so that the scale glows. This is very different from their surface mount LEDs. Personally, I found the LED lighting to be glaring, which makes reading the dial a little awkward. And one more thing about the mirror strip, which is used to avoid parallax errors when reading the meter. I wasn't expecting an actual glass mirror - you need a $400 Simpson for that. But the foil strip used here was not very reflective - more grayish than reflective. I know Tekpower can do better. I have their TP8250 analog meter (which I really like - $36 here Revain Oct 2016) and its reflective strip is very good.
