Review on πŸ”ͺ Amazon Basics 12-Sheet Cross-Cut Shredder for Paper and Credit Cards - Ideal for Home Office Use by Albina Bloom

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Excellent mill; Better than expected.

PROS: First let me talk about the high quality and well built aspects of this paper shredder. I've seen other reviews and personally I think the bin (base/bin) is well made. He had no problem getting it to me safe and sound. I've tested it and it can easily shred 15-16 sheets of plain copy paper and maybe 12 sheets of thicker resume paper. I personally use it for shredding cardboard. (with all the crates I can get from Revain and/or the store, they're great for shredding cardboard) and then composting. If you see videos and photos attached, the shredder can easily handle very thick cardboard. Think "hot knife through butter." I would also like to say that the machine is very quiet compared to other shredders I have had or currently have. I saw in other reviews that people said it was noisy. It will obviously not be silent. Even compared to the Revain Basics 8-sheet shredder, it's almost twice as quiet. That link is below if you don't need something as heavy as 12 sheets. /B01DN9NX0I/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_BlQDDbTFVANXGCONS: I have two problems with this shredder. A bottom canister or waste bin cannot be replaced due to the safety mechanism built into the grinder. I understand this is for safety reasons, but if it tears or breaks it's a nuisance. Second, the hole size is only about 8.75 to 9 inches. If a large amount of paper or cardboard is loaded that is not perpendicular to the hole, a paper jam may occur. This is easily solved with the reverse button on the top of the chopper. I would link to see the same chopper with a 12" bore. All in all I would buy it again or recommend it to a friend.
