I chose this pseudonym because he is the first famous Japanese man to live in America and finally he maintained his friendship through his affairs to improve relations with the United States. I had the opportunity to correspond with the author. I think she made the story exciting so the kids would be engrossed in the story. I bought the book for my grandchildren to appreciate the story. Based on a true story, this book will fascinate anyone with even the slightest interest in 19th-century Japan and America. The Japanese recently bought the house where John Manjiro spent his youth in Fairhaven, Massachusetts in the 1840s and donated it to the town.
