Review on 🎧 The Ultimate Hi-Fi Experience: Unleash the Power of HiFiBerry DAC+ Pro by Joe Glass

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Very comfortable for computer components

I haven't done rigorous a/b comparisons but this DAC sounds very light and airy driving UPnP delivered Jazz FLAC files into a tube headphone amp and my Sennheiser HD 650 . I'm using a Raspberry Pi 2 with this DAC, headless, with a tiny wifi dongle and running the Pi2 version from OSMC. For control I use the iOS version of the Kodi Remote Control app. The device is small, handy, portable and sounds great. It acts as a kind of Wi-Fi box -> audio converter and plays all my UPnP sources. If you have Apple hardware, the Pi/DAC+/OSMC advertises itself as an airplay target, which is a plus. I thought the DAC+ had a fixed line output, so I was a bit surprised that its output fell below the remote Kodi app's volume control, which can set it to zero. If you want great sound but don't want to invest in a 'connected streaming receiver', the HiFiBerry Pi may be for you. There are other inexpensive ways to achieve the same result, e.g. B. the small box Excelvan M2, a Wi-Fi bridge with optical output, which can be purchased for around $50. Also note that standard Raspberry Pi cases will not work when adding a DAC+; Your choice of suitable cases is limited. See my review of the steel version.
